Pittsburgh
Jan. 23rd, 2006 02:09 pmThis city amuses me to no end.
Last night, a group of friends and I ventured to Squirrel Hill for dinner. Right about the time we were leaving, the Pittsburgh Steelers had just won their conference game. I hadn't been watching, but I could tell because of the sudden flashes and booms of fireworks in the distance and the yelling, screaming, and similar elation that could be heard echoing everywhere.
Once we got up to Squirrel Hill, it was more exciting - lots of drunk fans (and hopefully less-drunk) highschoolers waving around black and yellow towels, driving around cars honking their horns, generally being an amusing nuisance. The same yellow "Terrible Truck" passed our location at least three times. It was hard not to laugh at all the silliness in the streets.
After we left the restaurant an hour and a half later, there was still honking and yelling going on, but it was subdued. Oh, this city amuses me.
I can only imagine what it will be like in two weeks.

chrisamaphone just walked into the faux-lounge today wearing a yellow and black jacket, and hadn't even noticed until I pointed it out. I'm surprised she apparently hadn't gotten any "Go Steelers!" comments yet.
