What if during some general election a significant number of incumbent politicians from either side of the aisle were ousted?
I'm not sure this is necessarily a good idea, and it's certainly not a feasible one, but it'd be interesting if politicians ever had to worry that their incumbency was not automatically a guarantee to their reelection; if they felt almost responsible for what they said and how they voted.
Eh, American politics is silly, anyhow.
