Here follows the thirty-first entry in jeffrey's journal: the story of the first date with the first gf of Jeff. I'm sorry if the flow in this entry is a bit bad, or if there are some nonsensical thoughts; I'm trying to gather all my thoughts still so it may be a bit weird. Anyway, let me start by saying that this night was inverse of last saturday; it started out badly but ended well. On that note, let me commence.

I began out the day by getting up "early" at 10. I really didn't want to get up, but I had to so that I could try and coordinate everyone. I'm not sure how I managed to become the coordinator, but somehow, I did. Anyway, I informed Lillia of our previous plans to meet at Fairfax Towne Center at 4:30. She had to leave to go to the park. I ran this by everyone else and then decided to call Jenny to give a status update. I found out that Laura's mom would be willing to drive to Springfield Mall, so I called everyone but Lillia back and got it approved by all but her. The rest of the afternoon was then spent trying to contact Lillia; she could not be found. We were wondering whether Ryan would even go or not, as he might not even have a date.

It was nearing time to leave and Lillia still could not be reached; Ryan finally got ahold of her, but only after Sollosi had already left to pick me up, so Ryan told us to meet him and Lillia at the mall at 5:30. Sollosi and I were to meet Laura and Jenny at 4:30. We arrived there at about 4:25 and decided to wait outside of Entrance 2 because the owners of Springfield Mall apparently decided that patriotism is better than navigation and had kindly covered up the number 2 with a big flag. That being said, we waited there...and waited there...and waited there. Several times (I think 2) I ran around the entire mall to make sure the two weren't at some other entrance. I called my dad at 5 to see if he had heard anything; he had not. When Ryan and Lillia showed up at 5:40, the other two still were not there. I called Jenny's parents and found out that they had gotten lost in Springfield and that Laura's mom had had a panic attack; Jenny had called them at 5; it was now 5:45. About 6 I decided to start another entrance check but decided part of the way to go back; when I came back, Jenny ran up to me and hugged me. She was quite shaken, but she had gotten there safely, and that was all that mattered. We were all very relieved.

After buying tickets and recovering for a while, we started down towards the food court. We were very obviously a group of 6, and halfway to the food court, a security guard materialized and stopped us. "Are you aware of the zero-tolerance policy?" she asked, pulling out a rules sheet. See, Springfield Mall feels like being anal and has decided that groups of teenagers of 4 or more persons without adult supervision is bad. Thus, we were forced to break up into 2 groups and regrouped at the food court. While eating our food, two other TJers happened to pass us and said hi. I find it weird that there'd actually be other TJers there, as Springfield Mall isn't exactly centrally located. Anyway, after that, we headed back to the theater, only we staggered ourselves this time.

We got to the movie theater and went in; Sollosi, being Sollosi, somehow managed to pass the ticket-taker and then went back to give him his ticket. The movie, Bandits, was great, and surprisingly we all managed to enjoy it. After the movie, we wandered around a bit as couples, only regrouping in the food court where we couldn't get caught and kicked out. At about 9:30 parents were there but we didn't want to leave; eventually we did. Ironically we passed the same security guard outside as we were leaving; that was moderately funny. Overall it was a night that started badly but ended well. Indeed yet another night to remember. 'Twas very fun.
