Dear Lazyweb,
The battery in my Lenovo T60 died about a month ago - it no longer recharges - and has now trickled down to 4%, even though I've had it plugged in the whole time, and there hasn't been any power loss in my apartment.
Obviously, I need to replace it, but the official Lenovo battery is $expensive. There are off-brand versions available various places online, it seems - do any of you have any recommendations there?
PS I am never buying a Lenovo again, and I suggest you similarly avoid them.

Date: 2008-10-24 05:37 am (UTC)relatedly, i need to replace my HP battery (had the laptop for about a year and made the stupid mistake of leaving the battery in when running on AC). the replacement of what i have is 130, but the battery never really had great life to begin with. am trying to decide if it's worth the extra 20 bucks to get the extended-life, 12-cell one.
all i know is that HP batteries tend to suck, and the laptops are power-drainers.

Date: 2008-10-25 01:03 am (UTC)This happened to mine, new battery doesn't help it at all. I've heard theories that it's Vista's fault (fucking up the APCI) (but how does it not charge when powered-down?) (I haven't put in a linux livecd to verify), but the probable cause is mobo failure or just shoddy connections somewhere.
I think it's out of warranty... I'm keeping it going as a not-very-mobile laptop; the rest of it is fine and it's a pretty nice machine. Definitely pretty fucking lame though.
